not bad if G34/g45 at $700 list price plus tax plus more state fees of $39

Any model other would be marked up at 800 otd.

What other brands did he have in stock showing?

        Agree.

I certainly wouldn't buy it at that price but there will be some folks who need it will pay for that amount.

I just think it's supply and demand. Is it a good practice for LGS? Probably not.

Bottom line is, whether OP lied or not, the store could've been upfront with him. It would be just as easy to say before the "crisis" the price was $569. Now these are virtually impossible to get and we have to charge $800 for the added time and effort it took us. Done.

There's no reason for them to lie about it.

It’s not that simple. A new buyer would sit there and waste the LGS time discussing the why on “price-gouging”. There are multiple pages here with people that have experience buying guns and still argue about LGS and their outrageous prices.

A shop in Santa Maria called 'Get Er Gun " is the same way, doesn't have chit in the case but what he does have is super rare and worth 3x normal junk price.

Many local gun shops are selling Glocks for $650-750 new. Most of them are taking advantage of the current situation. And not just on Glocks. I'm seeing a 20-30% markup across the board at some of these shops.

As the customer, you can go undercover and do so ethically. Poor form indeed, and thanks for outing the LGS.

Exactly, and normally customer, especially an fng, would appreciate the honesty.

Sometimes it’s not price gouging. Unfortunately it’s hard to afford to keep the doors open with limited stock available with out adjusting prices.

On another note. Previous job, I had a guy trying hard to haggle asking why I wouldn’t.

My answer was that the others are patiently waiting in line for the reason you deserve to pay less than them.

I'm with you on the Project Veritas and mystery shoppers, but undercover cops are the masters of entrapment.

I can't speak for brand new purchases at Chula Vista Guns, but as far as PPT's goes, they're GTG.

A buddy of mine is looking to buy his first handgun. He stopped by Chula Vista Guns last week and was told they had one Glock in stock, a .45, and that they were asking $995 for it because "people like .45s".
