    gun registration

Ok, soon to be new gun owner here. So i keep hearing that we shouldnt register our firearms because it will lead to the government confisicating them. But how can you get a firearm without registering?
I just bought a ar pistol lower registered as semi auto from an officer yesterday. Is this going to be a problem for me?

If you buy a gun through a licensed dealer it becomes a matter of record with the CA DOJ. Law enforcement also has access to these records. You have no choice in the matter.

Every gun you can purchase today is "registered". You can't avoid it.

That ar pistol will be in your database at cadoj until the end of time. If you sell it and they come to take them at least they won't seize it from you.

i wonder if it would be safer for me to buy a bolt action franklin armory ca7 and then put a maglock and semi auto upper on it, that way its legal and not registered as a semi auto. Would that be a good idea?

^^ That ship sailed in ca. No semi auto conversions now.

OP, try to get in on a Title 1 with us, via Franklin armory.

To be honest, I'm glad I have my ar pistol, but it hardly gets touched. I know they have real-world application, but mine has little application for me. In these times, I'd be perfectly happy just having a good quality ar15 rifle.

The "we shouldnt register our firearms" discussion is aimed at firearms owners who owned them before registration was automatic or required. Since then there have been a few opportunities to reconfigure or register some rifles to remain compliant with changing laws.

Guns are all registered now. Every single one of them. That may be different in other states, but in California everything is registered from here out
