I use white paint with a floutesent orange dot in the middle.. I have to admit that it's kind of hard to pickup the white in full sunlight sometimes. I am old and loosing my eyes so there's that.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Orange or yellow underneath. 3 coats white on top.

3 coats? I don't have time for 3 coats. I hit em with construction florescent orange right after I hang em. My eyes are not bad, but not great. Keep a few rattle cans in the truck...

It entirely depends on what is behind the target.

Bright Pink...or white works best for me...shoot them a while...spray them up again. I always take spray paint cans with me when I shoot my steel...

You would think white, however in my experience black is a lot easier to pick up during daylight for some reason.

I quit painting mine. I can hear it when I hit it, so...

I keep it simple and aim for the middle. X doesn't have to mark the spot.

We use white or pink paint. We also place a flag near the target for easy pick up and reading wind.

                            White for night/low light.
                            Orange for daytime.
Black for day against desert floor depending on sun angle.
Camouflage for day events wherein the participants must find the unknown distance targets in the brush.
