Question about FFL fees and whatnot

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a question regarding online firearm purcahses and the extra costs it will incur.

If I were to purchase a pistol online (Gunbroker, etc) and have it shipped to my local FFL, how much more should I expect to pay (compared to buying the same gun, at the same listed price, locally)?

depends on the FFL, but it seems to range from $50 to $125 for the dealers cut, then another $25 for the DROS.

Yeah, Im there all the time, I just never asked what they charge. I'll be making a few trips to some local shops tomorrow afternoon for some ammo so I'll ask around.

OC Indoor Range in Brea is $75 OTD. That includes the DROS.

Just need to find the best FFL in your area that is willing to accept transfers. There is no legal limit on how much they can charge for this kind of transfer. Ask if the price they quote you for a transfer includes the DROS. (Extra 25$) I have seen it for as little as $60 and as much as $100 including DROS.

Remember that the handgun you are buying must be "on the roster".

You think you know, but you have no idea.

Also be aware that the BOE considers the CA FFL the retailer if it comes from another retailer. Some FFLs collect sales tax and some do not. You should be able to find a transfer dealer for $25 or less plus DROS (and those guys probably won't collect their sales tax either) if you look hard enough.

www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.
