Is your ID a California driver's license? Does it say "federal limits apply" on it? If so, that's why. Lots of threads and info on it, basically a problem with how Ca processed (maybe still does) DL applications. There's supposed to be a certain level of verification of actual identity, and Ca wasn't doing that. Someone will be along soon with accurate details. IIRC it has to do with giving out DL's to people without making sure they are who they say they area. Something like a birth certificate or passport in support? A LOT of people on here have had trouble with that. You've started the process, so when it's done, you won't have to deal with that again.
    Good luck!
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

I do have a birth certificate I could submit if that will help get my gun out of jail.

17th The REAL ID has no specific correlation with a PPT. It is required for all gun purchases. If your license says Federal Limits Apply, you can use your birth certificate. MANY FFL’s do not know this and tend to always insist on having the REAL ID. Its important to know what you need because often times other people can lead you wrong. The REAL ID is something that has been a huge help in the chaotic world of CA gun buying.

I used my passport for months as 2nd piece of photo ID.

What California DOJ has said about what to show as ID, including having a non-Real-ID driver license. https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/atta...er-alert_0.pdf

Thank you guys for the info!

I will call the ffl tomorrow to go over this. Got to see if the difference between Chris and Christopher will disqualify my birth certificate

Tell them both you and your name were shorter then. You can use a passport or military ID to get a gun out of jail as well.
