ATF at it again RE: pistol braces

Gaetz Calls on ATF to Cease Plans Restricting Arm Brace Usage

June 16, 2020 Hot Takes Press Room
Congressman Matt Gaetz announced today on his podcast the ATF is crafting secret rules restricting the possession of certain pistol braces by American citizens, and that he has sent them a letter demanding they stop.

The ATF is at it again. On the surface they are trying a brace ban. But under the surface lies a darker issue. They are secretly trying to ban the brace. The ATF is going against executive orders and making secret rules and policy without the public's knowledge and yet are held responsible to follow said secret rules.

This is one reason why it's wise to SBR some of your pistols if you are in a free state.

SBR in a free state is almost like a BBRAW in California. Future proofing.

Do we know the brand names of the braces that are in the line of fire?

I'm surprised they've lasted this long. Expect them to be gone if Biden is elected.

            Not necessarily.

Even with the AWB from 1994-2004 the state of Alaska basically stuck up their middle finger and sold AR15s and AK47s in spite of the law passed. Alaska didnt care. I bought several during the ban in Alaska.

The ATF puts out opinion letters, nothing more. Its not a passed law by any means. The ATF has also stated time and time again they don't even actively enforce VFGs on AR pistols, at least the offices we have worked with. So why would they ban US military veteran designed braces? Looks like by the article they are looking at the SBM4 brace or at least thats the picture.

I don't see anything happening. And if it does then avoid the brace model in particular.

Was it the ATF or the FBI that murdered the wife and son of Randy Weaver?...I remember the name of the sniper, but not which agency.

It's a friggin' "acting" director that's probably some scumbag deep-stater.

Is Gaetz on a committee that has oversight over ATF?

Yup, Lon Horiuchi of the FBI HRT.

                    ATF was primary at Waco.

Isn't Gaetz the one who got a DUI and got off since he had family connections?

And if it's a secret, how does it know about it? Maybe he's making ***** up so he can get some political capital w/his base.

Where's he from? That's right, Florida.

One of the BATmen's typically shady operations gone awry. Poor side of town today, BATmen running the show, & one of 'em got shot. Doubt we'll ever hear the FULL story.

Emergency activity in the area was first reported shortly before 6:30 a.m. A SWAT team, Pittsburgh police and an ambulance were spotted in the area of Marion Street.

Marion Street is closed between Watson Street and Forbes Avenue.

Officials said there was an ATF investigation happening, but specifics were not provided. Pittsburgh police were “serving as support.”

                          ATF released the following statement:

“Our jobs as ATF Special Agents are inherently dangerous. We understand the risks we take every day as we perform our law enforcement duties,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge John Schmidt, ATF Philadelphia Field Division. “It is never a good day when one of our own is injured in the line of duty; however, I am grateful to report our Special Agent is in stable condition. We train for these types of situations and that training paid off today. In our efforts to conduct operations as safely as possible, we have medics on our Special Response Teams for instances just like today – our highly trained medics were able to quickly provide medical care to our Special Agent and helped insure the best outcome possible in this instance.”

instead of wasting their talents on banning the braces, how about getting rid of the stupid SBR law?

Anyone here on CG who didn't know this day was coming, was kidding themselves. Like waiting for the sunrise without a watch. Inevitably, this was gonna' happen. We just didn't know when.

The vagaries around those have been 'sketch from the get go.

                              Nothing to see here folks.
They are essentially short barreled rifles with a brace. The only way the brace beats the SBR rule is by being too short to shoulder. All the braces I've seen are pretty much stocks with a strap attached.
