Approvals are usually completed in 10 days but since the Covid panic-buying started many buyers were seeing long delays, out to a month.
It seems to be generally faster recently but the best bet is wait and see before you buy more stuff.
If you run into difficulties, ask here, there's tons of people who have had problems getting through the system so most process answers are known.

Welcome to CalGuns and good luck on a speedy approval.

Thanks. Just wasn’t sure if “no news was good news”. Didn’t know if denial notifications/calls were made before a typical approval/pickup call is done since I read that the background eligibility check really only takes a few minutes.

Is there a timeframe to let you know if you were denied for any reason?
Since you are a NOOB to firearms ownership. And in the process of educating yourself on the problems one can encounter.

A bit of advice I give to all gun buyers is to ALWAYS ASK BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH AN FFL.

IF THEY RELEASE ON AN UNDETERMINED STATUS?

This is very important. Because even though you have no negative black marks or any reason for your purchase to be flagged by DOJ. For either DENIAL or DELAY. It routinely happens anyway. Even to active duty cops.

            While you wait:

A few pages in you will learn what the background check includes.
The Federal NICS check usually takes only a few minutes, the California check takes several days.

And valid CCW holders. I'm on day fourteen in the official DELAY mode. Same thing happened to me about a year ago and went the full thirty days to UNDETERMINED. At that time I had no idea about the release or not release on my undetermined status but luckily my FFL does release on undetermined.
All this nonsense over a couple of vintage .22 rifles....
