I'm not a member. I am a member of GOA and SAF, and a contributor to CGF.

Thanks, but what you are telling me is that unless I notify them to do otherwise, they automatically waste my membership dues. Not the model of efficiency if you ask me.

It seems to me that they should only use a portion of my dues to promote membership, not all of it. I literally got a letter every 2 to 3 weeks.

Im a member only because I compete in HP. But really I think that Calguns does more here in CA for gun rights than the NRA. Just muy opinion, I have seating in the very very cheap seat so I could be missing a lot.

I am an NRA member, in fact I most recently signed up for two consecutive years.

Boy, even if you are an NRA member, do not get caught on this board saying one disparaging word about NRA or how they do things or how you would like to see them do something differently. You will be accused of being in cahoots with the Bradys or being just as bad as them or being one of their minions (doing their work). WTF? Just because you want to see them do something differently? You will be jumped on by every rabid NRA fanboy on this board. Names will be called, those attacking you will reference wombats and fairy's and unicorns in response to your posts which contain factual information and considered opinion, rather than simply offer an alternate to your point of view. Other fanboys will respond to those posts with things like "pwned!" and "told him!" or the equivalent. Mods will fail to step in and say something about being civil and rational.

In those cases, it is easier to just let the idiot "win" the "argument", once again proving what they say about arguing on the internet.

Anyway, long live the NRA, GO NRA, NRA4FR, now pass me some more Kool-Aid... glug-glug-glug

Not a member. I don't really care all that much to be a member of it.

Just because you're a firearm member doesn't mean you have to be an NRA member.

No bashing intended, I was simply wondering why people don't belong. I think part to blame is the NRA for not letting the people that support them know what they're up to... because then people would understand that we would no longer have gun rights if it wasn't for the NRA. Supporting the other groups is good, hell supporting all the groups is good, but the NRA is the one that actually puts a thorn in these anti's butt.

I am not. Well I taken that back, I did fill in that free membership form, just because. Haven't heard anything on it. I do donate at the occasional gun show though.

Here Here. The main reason is sooooo many current and ex members I meet are just plain fed up with them begging for money money and more money. Why would I want to join something and immediately have to put myself on their do not call list to keep from getting hit up for money. They sound more persistent than the bums in San Francisco

I hear that a lot of people getting hit up for money. Personally, I've never gotten a call from them. Maybe someone should let the NRA know that this is costing them members.

I always gave them a few bux here and there with internet orders but then they started sending me tons of junk mail. Now I specifically avoid giving them money just so the junk mail wont start up again.

I used to be an annual member, and an ILA contributor, but was constantly receiving mail asking for more. I let my membership lapse a few years ago. Last year I signed up for a life membership. I'm not sure if it is because I'm a life member or they have changed the practices, but now I don't receive any snail mail, only email legislative alerts. Much better.
