    MOLDABLE Ear Plug options?

A couple of shooters I've known for a long time use those ear plugs that mold to your ear canal, they got them at gun shows where the vendor sprays/injects the stuff into your ears, puts in a lanyard to connect them (handy) and once they harden you're good to go.

Well gun shows are kind of an issue right now so I've been looking at similar options, like heat-and-mold things, or DIY spray/inject style.

Question I have for y'all is if anyone has some suggestions and good outcomes. I really want to ditch the headphone-style as they interfere with some guns I shoot.

Check your local audiology office and see if they make custom Ear Molds...that is what you are probably looking for as compared to ear plugs.

They will be similar to what you get at a gun show, only made in a substantially cleaner environment.

The DYI kits are nowhere near as good as the true custom molds at an audiologist or at a gun show.

The downside to Ear Molds is it will be harder to hear, and that included range commands, people nearby, and approaching vehicles, etc.

BTW, the custom Ear Molds work great and are much more comfortable than foam plugs and there is no head pressure like with muffs. They do take a few seconds to seat in each ear so you won't want to take them off and put the back on with each range cease fire.

I'm an Ear Inc provider and do custom molded ear plugs all the time. An audiologist can make ear impressions you can send in to have a set made for you or you can go to Ear Inc's website and find a local provider who will probably be able to make a set for you on the spot like I usually do. There are other companies that also offer similar products.

I've had custom plugs done at motorcycle shows and gun shows. They weren't very good. Finally, I had a pair done by an audiologist through Kaiser, and the Westone plugs they made are far superior to anything I've tried before. They're pricey, but don't mess with your eye or ear pro. You only get one pair of eyes and ears in your lifetime. Don't cheap out.
