From what I read here, I'd say you and Randall are two of the biggest sources of knowledge here...and you can explain what you know in terms that anyone can understand. Imo both of you are definitely beneficial to the forum.

                    UC Davis Health reports...

"There are approximately 4.2 million gun owners and 20 million firearms (9 million handguns) in California. About 1 in 4 California adults lives in a gun-owning home."

The home page here reports ~25,000 "active" users...only ~ 0.6 percent of California gun owners.

Keep on doing what you do.

I refuse to use paypal. They want way too much info about my bank account. Basically enough to drain it if they feel like it.

I have begged dave shore to stop using paypal since calguns is directly funding an anit gun company but it has fallen on deaf ears for years.

while i fight paypal to release myfunds, which they rarely do I do not pay calguns more fo rthe service. I just sent calguns 500 for past dues. my accoutn is still not functional on calguns.
We don't insist on only paypal, we have Vendors who pay by snail mail check and a few that are now using Zelle now that we can track payments through them.
Frankly I'd prefer Zelle as it is instant and doesn't charge a fee... yet.

I dislike paypal, both for their anti-gun stance and the fact that they take 3% for every payment.

However there is a very good reason to use it and one I can not change.
paypal is the only one of the three payment processors hard coded in to the vBulletin software that still exists.

When payments for certain things are made, such as Contributorships, through paypal it automatically links back to the vBulleting software and the software updates the users account.

I have tried using various third party hacks and mods to use other payment processors and it has always been a nightmare of payments not going through or payments made and accounts not updated.

Simply put, as long as we're with vBulletin 3.X we're stuck with paypal. Yes, we can change forum software however that has it's on issues.

First off CGN is HUGE as forums go with 1.5 million threads and 21.8 million posts. Even the most modern software is going to have issues migrating that much data.

Second migration will take at least several days from every estimate I've received and that's just for the migration, it does not include time for all the tweaks necessary to fix embedded links, images, etc.

Third, due to the sheer size I've been told that while most new forum software will handle CGN fine it will not be as quick to load pages as it is now.

And not last and certainly not least there is no way to transfer iTrader ratings to a new ratings system, iTrader is rather archaic itself and has been unsupported for a decade. If we move to another software everyone loses their trader rating permanently.

I have been looking for years for a way to update our software without all these problems, believe me both I and our host company would like to not have to maintain all the server tweaks necessary to run outdated software.

As I mentioned above, it's mostly 'can't' although we are starting to be able to work with Zelle.

Zelle started as a tool for personal transfers with little or no tools for businesses and it still is lacking in many ways however between some recent updates and some manual tracking it's getting more usable.

I hate paypal but in all honesty their bookkeeping, payment tracking, tax documentation and management and reporting of scheduled payments is far and away superior to Zelle and most other online options.
Between that and the fact that vBulleting doesn't even know Zelle and other payment processors exist it's damn hard to dump paypal.

Most payment processors are geared towards in person point of sale (POS) payments or one time online payments, scheduled regular payments aren't a real part of their business model. They will do them but not well and with little documentation. They use weird tweaks to shoehorn regular payments in to th POS model.
