MidwayUSA, Allen, house brands, etc. Whichever is on sale. What’s more important is the thickness to protect the finish, since my safe is full. The silicone part is not important to me as my rust prevention comes from oiling the guns, using a dehumidifier and a safe warmer (Golden Rod) for me.

Bore Stores vs. Cabela's house brand.
The overall construction material is similar, but
Bore Stores is made in USA and has better velcro stitching. If I recall correctly, Cabela's was made overseas

Thank you Dirk, this is the kind of information I was looking for. I did not know they had VCI impregnated gun socks. I do remember when VCI impregnated plastic bags came out and I have seen VCI impregnated mylar type plastic bags what I didn't know they had moved that technology out of the plastic type storage bag.

I think Bore Stores is the way to go for people because they are made in America and have that nice velcro flap seal instead of the drawstring that a lot of the other competition including the Royal Crown purple velvet bags ( that I've actually used way back when and someone suggested here).

I wish they had the VCI technology but I'm really not sure how effective it is over plain silicone unless the bag is being sealed, although I guess it couldn't hurt. It does seem like certain gun stock makers have cornered the market on the VCI gun sock technology.

Here's a little bit of info on it for anyone who's not familiar....

          "
          What is VCI?
VCI is an abbreviation for Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. (Also known as VpCIs or Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors.) These corrosion inhibiting compounds release molecules into the air. When these compounds come in contact with metal surfaces they form a very thin molecular layer. This thin layer effectively inhibits corrosion on the metal surface by preventing air and moisture from coming in contact with the surface. Unlike other methods of rust prevention, the corrosion inhibiting vapors have the ability to reach into intricate surfaces that would be otherwise hard to reach with traditional rust prevention products.

Will I notice a film on my items?
No, you will not see or feel any film on your items. The film left by the emitter is only a few molecules thick (1/500,000 of 1 mil).

In what situations will VCI work effectively?
The VCI technology works on items in an enclosed area. The enclosure can be as simple as a bag, box, or any type of sealed enclosure..."

The Bore Store type are my preference, though not brand specific. I have had other, thinner ones that are more elastic and they do not provide the protection against gun safe dings as the Bore Store type. Since my safes are pretty full, I like that protection.

One other thing about VCI is that it dissipates from the material. It's usually about a year of protection in an enclosed space (that's for the VCI craft paper.) As far as I know it's not renewable (though I also haven't searched too hard for a product to do so, either.)
