Removing Holster Marks

I recently purchased a H&K P7 that have several surface marks on the slide from what I take has been concealed carry. I searched online and read Turtle Polishing Compound might do the trick in removing these light scratches.

I don't want to give this a try on an expensive purchase for me but would appreciate any input from experts here. Note this is a older gun made in the mid 90's. Thank you much.

Any sort of cleaning compound risks removing some of the blue finish.

Leave the wear marks.

They're on for good. Stop worrying about wear charachteristics in a pistol, unless you have a NIB, there's going to be marks. (I have 3)

You paid a high amount for it, the next guy will likely pay more.

polishing compound only "removes" material, and that includes the factory finish

The only things you should do with a P7 is shoot it and clean it; if you want to tinker around with something and not be afraid of ruining it, get a Glock (they have no souls so it’s okay to abuse them).

It's called patina and is highly valued. Some call it "battle worn" and do it on purpose (Cerakote).

Anything that you TRY to make it look better with is actually going to make it look WORSE as you will be removing finish.
Your options are to leave it as it is or do a FULL refinish job to make it look new again.

Thanks all for the input. I was undecided if I wanna leave it alone or remove it. Guess she'll wear its battle scars - doesn't bother me much.
I shot it already and it's just amazing to me. Always been my dream piece, finally fortunate to get one.
