Only “assault rifles” need to be in locked cases.

Does a featureless rifle/maglocked rifled count as that assault weapon? Does CA have any laws which required these rifles to only be transported from point a to point b, or is it legal to drive with it in your trunk? Here for the info as well.

        Yes, yes you can
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Sigh...the locked trunk is the locked case.

So a mini 14 in a soft gun case with mags locked up separately but still in the trunk is OK ?

Doesn't need to be in the trunk. Doesn't need to be stored separately from ammo or mags. Soft case is fine.
I've been pulled over with rifle in soft case across dash. No problem.

If i am out i might as well have a rifle in the trunk during these trying times. Put my micro pocket pistol back in the house. i am 73 and drive 30 miles round trip to corona four days a week.
i want legal fire power to defend myself if i get attacked .
So to be clear a unloaded mini 14 in a soft case and three mags in a zipper pouch are legal in the trunk.
                        thanks

I see nothing illegal about that configuration.

An unloaded mini 14 locked in the trunk is legal. You can have the magazines with it.

Locked in a soft or hard case in the passenger compartment is also legal.

Does not need to be inside locked container unless traveling through school zone
