    PTR-91 fired brass reloadable?

    Hello Folks,

Forgive my ignorance, my question is for those who own PTR-91s:

do PTR-91s ding up the brass to the point that the brass cannot be reloaded?

I am considering seriously buying a PTR-91, but wanted to know if the rifle does this, because the HK91/G3 fired brass is mostly unusable.

Thanks for taking the time, look forward to your responses.

I am interested in the answer to this as well. I heard this happened with certain HK rifles, but thought it was a fluke.
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms, disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. - Thomas Jefferson

I believe it effects the HK91/HK93 series and clones.
Something to do how the delayed rollerlock action operates with the fluted chamber.

It is reloadable, but can be a pain in the butt to get the brass unmangled. What I do is either shoot steel cased ammo, or shoot the brass I will not be reloading through the HK clones.
My FAL gets good brass, the HK clones get the berdan stuff, etc...

the brass is reloadable.. but!!! get the HK case port buffer.. that way you won't get that nasty crease in the case body.....

The Flutted chambering of the HK 91 type weapons imparts a carbon residue on the case necking. It's cosmetic. However, it will leave a nice ding on the case, that can be reduced by using a port buffer.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. I'll get the PTR and look for the port buffer.
