Welcome to the NorCal Practical Precision Rifle Club (NCPPRC). Our mission is to provide events where the serious practical/tactical precision rifle shooter can test their skills and abilities in a safe and controlled environment. These competitions will give precision rifle shooters an arena to refine their skills in ways that pre-existing competitions do not currently…

Call them and make sure you know your bullet detail, speed, grain, BC, scope brand. Do you reload, do you buy only the same brand bullets, at 100yards do you even shoot 1MOA bro? Ha ha
For range fee of $16 plus practice session with these guys $10 you can get some experience practicing.

Use a chrono and ballistic program available on your phone to figure out your ballistics. I use Strelok+ which most likely has your scope reticle.

1000 is easy. My kid did 1250 when he was 12 with our $900 setup.

Strelok and knowing how to turn dials is all you need for 1000.

That's why shooting is half gun and half you. You need to have the knowledge to dial in a gun, but buy the quality parts that won't fail you so you'll be confident in your shot. I have a kestrel that shows for air density, wind, temp, angle... And strelok to make the calculations, I've seen adjustments of 1 or 2 moa depending on those values changing. I make my own bullets so they are more consistent for my rifle.

I remember I brought a bunch of non shooters who had never shot before, ever. But I knew my gun could do it and they were hitting 300 and 500 missing 20 percent of the time.

I would also like some kind of guidance and a location to shoot that far. I Would not mind working up to that distance.
I do have the rifle to do the job, I reload, I shoot MOA at 100, and have shot 500 yards.
I'm located in Orange County though. Would not mind driving out to someplace. I've been thinking of driving out to a range near phoenix that offers lessons.

I think having someone with skills and knowledge to go with me is important at this time. I know I can hit the target at 500 yards. Now I need to learn to get better.

When the U.S. military COVID 19 lockdown ends Santa Margarita Gun Club on Camp Pendleton will have NRA Mid-range and Long-range events scheduled again. Whether it is a match or practice there are always "newbies" that get plenty of helpful tips and instruction by other members.

Would love to shoot Santa Margarita but they have limited rifles allowed. A 308 is fine, or another military caliber, but a magnum rifle is not.
I'm hoping to learn long range and would like to have someone show me good habits and technique so I don't learn bad habits. I hate to just show up and ask people for help that are there to do their own shooting.
It sounds like a great facility and I'm sure the people are nice. I would love to try them out when I get a little better.

don't know if you have funds and can travel (eventually) but there are classes.
you might find a mentor or somebody to work with by going to club events at the various ranges (you can find schedules of events with links to the clubs).

i am in the same boat (teaching myself so far), basically using online resources and snipers hide for a lot of tips. there are some worthwhile youtube channels and blogs.

so far i can calculate dope for everything i have tried out to 600+, but i need to work on being better at tracing my shots and reading wind downrange. being able to get out to the range is my biggest obstacle.

if i was experienced enough to think i could help anyone (besides repeating advice i have used successfully from others) i would be willing to help you out.

Drop em on me! I'm interested in getting into some long-range shooting. I mostly shoot ARs but am interested in getting a bolt action and shooting some longer ranges. What are your favorite channels with information for the beginner?
