The same right you have to call the police officers two of the most clueless guys there. I was merely trying to give insight and paint a picture of what goes on at a police station front desk.

When the officers are dealing with crimes, vicitims, and witnesses they may seem somewhat puzzled when someone comes in asking for free stuff. It doesnt mean theyre clueless especially since their station wasnt participating in this stupid lock program.

Your'e right, i dont know jack **** about you. well actually youre not exactly right. i do know a few of things.

      1. You go thru some trouble to get a free gun lock. Maybe worth $5

      2. When you dont get your free lock you take it out on the officers who
are trying to do their jobs.

      3. Then you go on a gun forum to complain about not getting your free lock.

      4. You get info about where there may be free locks, and will probably
go thru more trouble to try to get another free lock.

      5. You get easily offended when someone refers to you as a yahoo

      6. You pulled the race card (that alone qualifies you as a yahoo)

      7. Your name is probably Henry.

      8. You like Audis

      9. You live in Valley Village (too upscale to be called North Hollywood)

      10. You probably drove your Audi to go get your free lock.

A receipt isn't about price or money, it's a document showing something was given to someone else, even if it was for $0. A simple receipt showing the place I got it from (NHPD, in my case) and a date, would suffice.

What's all the fuzz about having to get a receipt?! Most of us have quite a few locks lying around. Just bring one and hand it to the seller in the parking before going in for the transfer. Since the lock is included as part of the transaction, the FFL will treat it as an oem lock.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully this will save me $9 next time.

I was thinking of going to my police station to get a lock for my rifle, but I had no idea where to go and who to ask.

No, FFL explicitly requires a lock with a receipt within the past 30 days. Even when transferring a bent piece of metal (receiver), a copy of the receipt was made.

You bought the lock from the seller. The transfer paper is the receipt.
