    Is this for reals?

I was on gunbroker today and found this

the seller is claiming it takes AR-15 mags, now is he trying to get rid of it? or did he customize it to take AR mags?

I would think that it would be possible to modify it to accept AR15 mags. Would it be reliable? Who knows.

He lives in a state where he can buy AR15 anytime. So probably not a loss for him to sell that rifle.

Unless the mag well modification is done by well known outfit, I wouldn't buy it.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.

I think the seller's full of it............

Look at the mag release....its a standard Mini release. Either its modded mags or the guy/ffl'r doesnt know which end is up & was either fed a load when buying it or is trying to do the same to seller.............

This "idea" was just gone over on a thread not too long ago, way too much of an involved process for most and would need a magwell with a push button release.......

Eagle made a magazine that was suppose to work with both the AR and the Mini. As I understand it they didn't work too well with either.
This guy may have been given some of those and so decided the mini takes AR mags.

But didn't those load from seperate ends? I do know there are ways to mod an AR mag to work in a Mini, but I believe it makes the mags unusable in ARs as they have an extra tab on the rear.

Why even bother? For a couple hundred bucks more you could buy or build a real AR.

I have never heard of a mod that allowed a Mini-14 to use an AR mag.....

Not really,my Mini takes the 20 and 30 round magazines that I have for it and drops them out pretty darn quick. And I don't have to break open the actionto reload.
There are ways to build up a lower receiver to either look like an AR and have a fixed mag or have removeable magazine and look like a Mini-14 (straight stocked), but you can not build an honest to goodness AR here. Not yet.

As I understand it the Mini's mag well is too narrow for an AR magazine, you would have to do some mods to the stock and receiver to get an AR mag to fit and then you would either have to modify the mags or fabricate a well to lock up the mags.

But didn't those load from seperate ends?
That could explain why they have a rep for not working.
