HELP! Charging Handle Wont Go In!!

Hey guys, I'm currently building a AR15 and this is my first rifle. I've used a couple rifles before and I know how to place the charging handle and BCG in.

However, today I got my Geissele Super Charging Handle and when trying to slide in with the BCG it won't go into the guide channels. When inserting the charging handle, it falls into the two cutouts but then will not go in (or down). Im assuming the channels are a hair too narrow or the handle is a hair too thick.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what should I do? Should I file down the charging handle rod?

sounds like your gas tube is too long and may be hitting the charging handle. Look inside or take a pic and let us look.

I had a charging handle that was warped once and would jam. See if you can lay it flat or the sides are flared a bit. Compare with another one if available. It was bowed/arched in middle and would seize up.

Update: My friend went through a couple charge handles such as Geissele Super and Airborne, Radian Raptor, and a Mil Spec and none of it when in.

Then after 15mins or so of just aligning it and a bit of force we got it in. Was very rough and get stuck so added lube and kept racking it. Now its good and function checked it.

I believe the problem was that the guide channel in my upper receiver was a hair too narrow, after breaking it in a couple times it now feels perfect!

I was thinking about getting a Badger handle for one of my rifles. I've never had an issue putting a new charging handle in. Maybe I'm just lucky. I'm glad it turned out okay for you OP.
