People buying it up is driving up the prices...but if there was an abrupt, widespread cessation of purchasing, that might hurt the industry, too.

To be succinct, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Never like Econ.

        Anyway, quit hoarding ammo people

I assume you mean if sales slowed down to pre-election rates.

Theoretically they would come down. But I don't think by much.

To me, ammo is just another consumable.

                I'm buying, I'm shooting, I'm buying more.

                  Not for a while
folks are used to paying these prices now and probably will continue to pay them.

Theoretically, if people stop buying and the manufacturers catch up with back orders and start to build a surplus, they'll have to lower prices. Some retailers will start lower their prices and eventually competition should start to bring the overall prices to a lower level.

That's assuming that the chicken-little panic subsides, of course.

About as effective as the one day gas station boycotts last year.

a lot of ammo manufacturing companies would cease operation if people stop buying.

I don't think people will "stop buying ammo." I know I won't. I'm still trying to quantify hoarding.
