Taking AR Pistol to the Range?

Is it a smart idea to bring my semi auto AR pistol to the range? Should I be worried about law enforcement messing with me?

Depends entirely on which range you go to.

If you're shooting 7.69x39, it may not be allowed on a pistol range.

Best to call them and ask.

          R U serious?!

Honestly children, just don’t act like a jackwad and you’ll be fine. If you act like you did something wrong - your gonna look like you did something wrong. Not trying to be too much of an *** myself, but sprout a pair Susie!

I take one of my two ar pistols nearly every time I go to the range. Of course I shoot them on the rifle side at 50-100 yds.

As long as your guns are California legal why wouldn’t it be?

I have a semi-auto AR pistol. The only time I ever use it is when I go to private, gated property. In fact I've only used it once, and that was at Twin Sisters. I don't think I would ever take that thing to a public range.

Mine was converted to a rifle. It was boring to shoot and it's a legal trap here.

I have had my AR pistol at LAR&G before SIP with no issues

I'd expect you are more likely to be hassled but FUD loving range employees than police. I was told by a LGS employee that "all AR pistols are illegal now" when I was trying to PPT one. We went somewhere else (and shortly later I did notice that employee no longer works there).

I always took my AK pistol to the range. I can guarantee it was noticed by everyone there when it was shooting two foot fireballs. No one cares and anyone that does is a misinformed idiot you just ignore. It was in a CA legal configuration so nothing to worry about. Enjoy shooting your toys. Just make sure you’re legal about it.
