CA 10 round magazines ruin the fun of .22 for me; praying for the day when 30round mags are the norm again.

Is steel madness even a thing anymore?

100 yards is about the limit for my .22LR ammo. At 3~4 CPR it's fine for that. Mostly Federal AutoMatch. The AR-47 hits well to 400 yards at 20 cpr. That's why I don't spend more on match .22's.

CCI all copper is allowed for hunting and it's the fastest .22LR. It's also one of the least accurate. Aguila Hyper Maximum at 1750 fps is far more accurate.

I pay about 10 cents for gemtech and it is good out to 350 yards. But I can shoot 9mm out to the same distance. I was shooting my red dot canik pistol last saturday out to 120 yards. Only a few cents more but at that distance oyu see the huge variation from cheap steel like tula and wolf that is fine at 20 yards compared to any cheap brass. huge difference in powder charge consistency. I've done 500 yards with my colt AR 9mm and a red dot. It's just not as easy as a rifle cartridge. Finding the max consistent distance a gun and cartridge will go is fun especially when it is too hot to move around.

Eh. I shot several thousand rounds of 22 last week. From a wheelgun to a semi auto pistol, both at a IPSC steel target at a hundred yards...to a fairly precise bolt action at 50 and a hundred feet...to a dedicated AR in 22lr at all ranges out to 225 or so and a Ruger 96 for some lever action on steel.

Hella fun. Less than a hundred bucks worth of ammo spent. Don't have to spend time loading more. Takes up less space. Light. Quiet. Fun.

How old are you? Kids and old-timers tend to love 22. In your 20s and 30s you want the biggest gun you can find.

The only .22's I like are my Buckmarks , sold everything else except the Talo Backpacker (non SS) that I haven't even shot. It's almost a year old I think.

Even worse I still have about 3500 rds of SV , Mini Mags , Stingers left to shoot.

Come on though, .44mag is totally an old timer round.

What kinds of distances do these guys shoot their subsonic .22LR at?
The 8" steel I was sometimes dinging 22lr off of last week was 293 yards from the bench I was shooting off of. Other shooters there hit it far more often than I, and well over 75% with the right wind.

Yeah, .22LR is dirty. It comes with the territory.

I'd love to try .22 TCM but I don't think there's any pistol that eat that on the roster.

I'd like to get a single-action 22 Magnum or a rifle that shoots that one of these days.
