    losing hope in 22lr

As of late and after having a 10/22 (hated using it), Marlin 60 (loading was no fun), SW MP22 (most reliable), Phoenix Arms( most shot), , Rough Rider(seemed fun), Henry Lever 22 and Pump 22 I just do not enjoy the caliber. Most of the time is dirty, even in high priced ammo like CCI. Would getting a bolt action make it more precise and less repetitive and more engaging? I might try a GP100 in 22 too. Any input on getting the fun back? Its weird that after getting the shotgun and having my eyes set on a GP100 in 357 all others seem less interesting, maybe a 308 for long range.

Sounds like your not challenging yourself and your bored, find some drills and accuracy games that will spice up your shooting and make it challenging.

Doing the same thing over and over especially with no goal or purpose will get boring after awhile no matter the gun or caliber.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I'll take these filthy, low powered boring chunks of wood and metal off your hands.

M&P 15-22 or build your own.

Easy to clean and fun to shoot.

I just shot a 22/45 with an rmr was a blast. Unfortunately now im going to end up spending the msrp of my browning buckmark on a rail and rmr for it.
I switched over to mainly shooting .17hmr for rimfire rifles because you get a ton more range and consistancy.
                  But i love .22 pistols .

Build up the 10/22. You can spend quite a bit customizing these into accurate little semis. Or find a Ruger Precision Rimfire and challenge yourself to shoot tiny little groups. Similar to centerfire precision shooting, but a LOT cheaper.

My kid got bored with 22 by the time he was 12. The pandemic had us take the 22s out and after one trip they are back in the safe again.

I like the 10/22, but not as much as some of my others:
                          GSG 1911-22
                          GSG 522
Marlin 60...how can you not like this excellent rifle? I prefer it over the 10/22
                          S&W 15-22
                          S&W 617
                          Browning Buckmark
                          Umarex UZI 22 rifle
                          S&W 22a
                          Winchester 74
                          Beretta 92 with .22 conversion

Shooting a .22 takes me back to my childhood. Hunting rabbits with my grandfather. Now I have about a dozen of them to take out when I go shooting with my two boys. Cheap fun for an afternoon. What’s not to like.

Move over to the Manual forum and take a look at the .38/.357 lever gun fun. I don't think you'll find more fun then a .357 lever gun.

Get yourself a Browning Buckmark and put a red dot on it. They're pretty fun to see how far you can reach out accurately

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I already had one and did not like it!
