Reputable Appraisal in OC?

New to guns and Calguns so please be gentle.

I'm looking to sell some handguns I inherited. I bought the Blue Book and have some idea of worth, but have been told that with California's restrictive laws the prices might be higher. I'm not looking to rip off, or be ripped off, just want to know. Basically something like "don't take less than xxx but if you find the right buyer you might get as much as zzz".

Is there a shop/gunsmith/??? in Orange County or reasonable distance that would be able to help?

Walther PPK (.380/9mm Kurtz) - original box and documentation, made in West Germany

Mauser HSc (.380/9mm Kurtz) - same as above

Colt Combat Commander (.45) - says that on slide but barrel is 3.5" so it must be an officer's model???

Model PPL .380 Auto - know nothing other than they were only made for two years in the early '70s.

Beretta Model 1934 - well used

Smith & Wesson Model 469 - well used

Liberty Stagecoach (12 gauge) - Liberty Arms Corporation, Montrose CA

Colt Trooper Mark III (.357 mag) - probably keeping this one

IMI Timber Wolf (.357 mag) pump action rifle - probably keeping this one

Searches on the for sale forums can give you a general idea, although condition does play a part. The IMI for instance was listed fairly recently for somewhere around $900. It sat for a bit, so that might be a little high, or it might just be that it's a fairly rare item and the right buyer didn't come along. In general I think it's a pretty fairish price, although a bit more than I'd want to pay.

Because off roster pistols are restricted in terms of who can sell them, it's harder for someone to accurately appraise value. The Walther, Colt commander, and 469 would definitely generate interest. The shotgun would be more difficult to price accurately. A lot of it boils down to your situation, and whether a few hundred bucks is worth the extra time and effort in figuring out an exact price as opposed to making sales relatively quickly.

I would contact carol Watson auctions right off the 91. They run auctions and very honest. They seem to get strong numbers for items.

Try some searches here for "California" prices.
Prices since March are higher than normal.

See how long they have been up for sale to judge fairness of price.

You're smart to keep the Timber Wolf, they're no longer made and IMI builds beautiful weapons. Shooting .357 magnum max loads is easy. The Trooper is also a definite keeper.
