        Legal
        Fixed original 10 round mag
        Your gtg

        922r bs
        It's up to you
Never a prosecution , millions of sks rifles not playing 922r game

You can even put a forward grip on tapco stock, remove bayonet, less weight

Excellent thanks gunners. I have had several Sks for many moons and just the other day one of the guys trying to give me static for illegal rifle.

I’m keeping all wood original parts etc and kept to wooden hand guard still installed.
          Pics to follow.

CA legal, as long as it has a fixed 10 round magazine and the overall length (with stock collapsed/folded) is 30" or greater.

If it does not have a fixed magazine, then it would be an illegal assault weapon due to it being a semi-auto centerfire rifle with restricted features [PC 30515(a)(1)] and being a SKS with detachable magazine [PC 30510(a)(11)]

If it has a fixed magazine with a capacity of 11+ rounds, then it would be an illegal assault weapon due to it being a semi-auto centerfire rifle with a fixed magazine capacity of greater than 10 rounds. [PC 30515(a)(2)]

If it's overall length is greater than 26" and less than 30", then it would be an illegal assault weapon due to it being a semi-auto centerfire rifle with an overall length of less than 30". [PC 30515(a)(3)]

If it's overall length is less than 26", then it would be an illegal SBR due to it being a rifle with an overall length of less than 26". [PC 17170(b)]

Just also make sure its not an unmodified Yugo M59/66 since apparently the CA DOJ gave special attention to them for their muzzle device being capable of launching rifle grenades.

Otherwise like others have said as long as its got the original 10 round fixed mag, stays above the over-all length requirements, and meets 922r compliance, you should be fine.
