    Friend's purse stolen...

My wife's friend came by and asked if she had given us a spare key to her house. We did not have one. Turns out someone got into her trunk and stole her purse. She thinks she did not completely close the trunk when she parked away from her house.

Purse contained the usual stuff plus a set of keys to her pick up truck (second vehicle). So she bailed to her mother's house to get a spare while I grabbed the P220, 3 extra mags and a Surefire 6P and headed over to her place to keep an eye on things.

I was sitting in the truck with window down and opposite from her house watching the front. It is amazing how much traffic there is on side streets and how young women around 9:30 PM in pitch dark walk about without care and not noticing/being aware of their surroundings. No one noticed I was in the truck.

Anyway, after 40 minutes, she came back. I went in first and cleared the house room by room. Everything looked in order. checked all the windows and doors. Asked her if she still had her SA 1911 and she said yes. Asked what ammo she had and she said basic practice rounds. Emptied 1 of my mags and gave her 7 rounds of Black Talons.

She's going to replace the door locks tomorrow. In the mean time, other security measures were taken which I won't go into at this time.

Hope it will be an incident free night.

Home alone type ****? Marbles on the floor, paint cans hanging at the top of the stairs, tar and feathers etc etc?

Hope it all turns out for the best. If the thief returns sounds like (s)hes in for a surprise. Where is the car parked now?

This started weird. She came over to ask if she gave you a key???
F**k that. Or: let's encourage irresponsibility.
I'd know if I gave a key to anybody, and I consider that a minimum worth knowing.

She did when she first bought the house 18 years ago. Then she changed locks a few years ago and we did not get a new key.

We are the closest to her house so naturally she came over panicked and asked.

Not home alone stuff. More common sense stuff.

The car is in a secure place

I'd have left the practice rounds....

she knows they work in her gun...

with the black tallons she now has an unknown quantity in a platform which can be picky when it comes to hollow points.

Good point. I had 3 other mags, two of which had flying ashtrays while the fourth had Speer Gold Dot. However, the profile of the Black Talon is more conducive to feeding properly than the flying ashtrays.
