    GOA or GOC?

I posted this earlier on another forum and didn't get 1 opinion, so I'll try here.
I was looking at the website of Gun Owners of America and see that they have a affiliate of Gun Owners of California.
Looking at the website of GOC, I see legislative alerts about pending bills, etc., but I didn't see what their involvement is. Seeing as I've never heard of the GOC, I wonder how effective they are.
So, as a commiefornia resident, would I be better staying local or go with the national branch?

    Well since you asked...

GOA is a load of baloney. They talk real big but when you go through their financials. They spend barely anything doing anything besides their salary.

No fan of the NRA? No problem. CRPA has been doing really good stuff these last few years. Look into them and see if they fit you.

I'm not seeing a lot of support for GOA.

For a reason. CRPA is where it's at.

The two are likely part and parcel so it probably doesn't matter much. FYI, I believe GOA originated in California, the founder was a California State Senator.

I support GOC based solely on watching the Executive Director, Sam Paredes defend 2A in hearings at the state capitol over the years, consistently more than any other person/group from what I've watched (from ~ 2011 onward).

The fact that some aren't even aware of this is disheartening. Have you really been paying attention?! (rhetorical question)

So I throw him/them my measly $35 a year despite lobbying being a lost cause in CA, it still needs to happen. Don't give up the ship!

Of course, my money also goes to NRA, CRPA and other worthy 2A efforts. Note that over the years there has seemed to be bad blood between the various groups but the last few have seen what looks to me like much better collaboration. It seemed to turn more positive when Chuck Michel took the reins at CRPA but whatever it was it's a good thing.

            In order:

            NRA
            CRPA and the foundation CRPAF
            The REAL Calguns
            GOC
            Project Appleseed
            Knife Rights

None are perfect but I've found all worthy at one point or another.

Curious, where would one get their financial info to look at? I know that often organizations say you can view their financials at anytime (at their headquarters).

                        Most effective:

                        NRA
                        NRA-ILA
                        CRPA

NRA-ILA does the Actual Work in the:
                        "Legislative, Political, and Legal arenas"

So it is not enough to simply join the NRA, you need to donate to
the NRA-ILA so that the Lawsuits, in particular, keep forging ahead.

GOA good on Rhetoric, but rather short on results, for the most part.
I do not mean that to be an insult, just an observation.

I think they have many good people as members, and I actually enjoy
their over-the-Top Rhetoric, but they fall short when compared to
NRA / NRA-ILA, so my money usually goes in that direction, but I do
recall giving GOA a donation when Piers Morgan (on his CNN show)
"debated" Larry Pratt, Executive Director of GOA
at the time, and I thought Mr Pratt did a rather good job of defending
the 2A from that English Twit, Morgan.

Here is a Link to the NRA-ILA dedicated California webpage
                        Stand and Fight California:
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

information on the numerous cases the NRA-ILA is involved in.)

Even with all the recent upheaval at the NRA, it is still the Big Dog
in the 2A arena, and if it goes down, it will be a Major Win for the
                        Anti-2A Zealots like Bloomberg.
