Outdoor Shooting Range open after May 4th

Will outdoor shooting ranges be opened on or after May 4th with the modified SIP orders?

Some will. Some are already open now. If you're asking about a specific range, giving a general location will help.

I don't know where the op is located but I'm really hoping Los Altos opens soon. If some golf courses are open then why not outdoor ranges with reasonable distancing measures?

Not the bay area, but Sac Valley has a notice on their web site saying they'll open on May 4th

I also hope Los Altos opens soon. Golf courses in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are allowed to open May 4th, so it would make sense if outdoor ranges were allowed to open. I am going to check with them. Will report back.

The order specifically mentions outdoor shooting ranges in section 16.1 as being allowed. There are hoops to jump through however that are referenced in the order, but not spelled out. How long it takes an individual business to comply and what they choose to do may vary.

I need to visit Sac Valley on Tuesday to sight in my new 6.8 spc deer rifle.

I figure I'll have multiple trips over the next few weeks for working out accurate reload recipes. I just loves to "tune" my reloads

I could envision an effort by some local governments and their LE agencies using this Covid business to enact new regulations, such as video monitoring, reduced access, demands for participant usage records, etc., as a tool to further slow the China Virus, and other yet unknown future pandemics, for "community safety". They have become addicted to the powerful drug of perceived power and authority, and despite public claims, many are disliking the thought of relinquishing that position of power, authority, and decision making.
We shall see.

Yesterday I got an email from my club - Folsom Shooting Club/Sac Valley Shooting Center (Ione, CA) - opening Monday May 4 for members and their guests initially for two weeks to see how it goes before opening to the general public. I immediately booked a private bay ("action pistol range" - 50y, you and your co-shooters are your own range-master) for some much-needed therapy.

I heard back from the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club via email a couple minutes ago. Here was the response:

"We do not have a date as of now we are working with the health department to get the ok, please keep checking the web site for updates."

"We do not have a date as of now we are working with the health department to get the ok, please keep checking the web site for updates."

Don't hold your breath. The Lefty govt will snuffle them to the bottom of the deck and they will be allowed to open last. I am headed to a friends house in Carson City and plan on shooting a boat loads.
