Wyoming. Not a city, but an entire, big beautiful state.

I think its open carry in the cities there because apparently state law overrides local law according to this:

so presumably that means open carry anywhere

damnnnn that would be a sight. do people actually do it is the question

Your open carry question got me to do some research. Here is a link to a pretty good map.

Be aware!!! there are many layers to legally and illegal carrying in almost ever state. It gets sort of complicated. e.g. CA is a no open carry state; but there are places and times when you are permitted to do so.

Re: your question about cities. NV and WA are, (generally speaking) Ok with open carry. I have spent lot of time in WA and have never seen an open carry. In NV I have only seen one guy and that was in Sheels. He had a 45 of one hip and a large knife on the other. He was shopping with his wife and kids.

It depends what you mean by "cities".. I never saw too much open carry in CA. But if you live in northern Idaho, it's completely different in that you see it all the time.

It's just not at all abnormal for people who are working (or even hunting) to come into town (or city) for fuel, food, or other supplies. When you live and work in a place where there is a substantially higher than average chance of being killed by the local wildlife, people generally carry guns and openly at that. That's just how it is and has absolutely nothing to do with politics

I have seen a few people open-carrying in AZ. One guy was in Walmart, in Tucson . . . he had a western style revolver rig. Most of the others I've seen were on hiking trails in the mountains of the SE part of the state.

              Phoenix

I live about an hour from a cowboy town. Ranchers come out here carrying. But locals also carry here. I've seen some very pretty women grocery shopping in jeans with a 1911 on their hip. I've seen dad's play soccer in the local park while open carrying. Lots of guys walk into gun shops open carrying out here.

I open carry when I go to the desert.

A few years back I was working in Salt Lake City, and I noticed one of the cooks in the restaurant I was at, had a gun on his hip.

I thought, man... he must get a lot of nasty crap on that gun...

I travel throughout Arizona for work. I have observed open carry in Tempe, Phoenix, Prescott, Tucson and many other small towns. In Tempe and Phoenix, it is usually guys on bikes I have seen strapped.

Being from the West side of Los Angeles, it does my heart good whenever i see this.

Here in WA seen it plenty. Not as much as you might think but I think that's because a CPL (concealed pistol license) is so easy to get most who carry do so concealed.

May 4th a rally at the Capitol - open carry rally.

The bikes have motors on them, right? I do see a lot of colors-wearing bikers carrying. Doesn't really do my heart good.

                          Fairbanks Alaska

And 30+ more towns and villages

That's just 2 states that every town or village it's legal. I can go state by state and list thousands of towns but it would take to long to list.

And you do not need a permit to open carry. It's the way of life. Nobody cares.

"No permit is required to conceal or open carry a firearm if the carrier is 21 years or older and meets all the criteria set out in the law. Permits are still available for residents who wish to travel out-of-state and non-residents. Applications are handled at the state level by the Maine State Police."

You just have too many liberal Californians with rights that will not except open carry. Oh well. It's all about population. It seems the more populated a state is the more strict laws are. How's Illinois, New York and California for example?

I carry all the time in Maine. Conceal or open. Movies it's conceal carry. Daily activities it's open carry. Been doing it while active duty for decades in Maine, Alaska and Oregon. With a permit in Oregon.

I see folks carrying all the time here in Prescott. Almost every time I go out. Costco, Fry's market, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, In N Out, Texas Roadhouse...

                            All over.

Without grabbing the Penal Code. I think open carry in CA has ended. In the past it was legal but the gun had to be unloaded - excuse me bad guy will you not knife me until I load my gun. Now you can go to jail if your sheathed knife is too big. And c'mon I qualified to order and buy and automatic (switchblade) knife let me carry it. There really isn't much difference between it and the assisted open one I use every day.
We were in TX a few months ago and the hotel had a sign posted - no open carry. CCW was fine but they didn't want to see it.
