And you can color it blue, yes we used mostly functional m16s in AF Basic Training. They had blue handgrips.

Great info, thanks! I was just looking at blue furniture the other day. I haven't found anything for sale configured as a practice or training rig, so I guess he'll have to build his own.

Using snap caps would be cheaper than building another gun, and i'm not sure if plugging the chamber would be enough to avoid illegally constructing an SBR.

I don't want to give out any FUD on my part, but I would never use a lower that was ever a real firearm at any time. Especially an AR platform that while entirely no longer "functional" might have a legitimate lower with "banned" attributes.

                To elaborate..............

You could have a designated upper, plugged in a way that would prevent loading real ammo.

Then have cut down practice rounds that would actually feed into the plugged barrel.

Then remove the firing pin, as well as weld up the firing pin hole, and modify the bolt carrier to prevent welded up bolt from being removed.

                *************

OK, now you install said upper on the real AR lower, what do you have when you install are regular grip?

                Yea, a potential problem.
