I had no idea Pythons came in .41 magnum

I am not a Python fanboy by any stretch, but I do appreciate the beauty of them. I am however, a .41 magnum fan. I was just doing a .41 magnum search and came across not one, but two Colt Pythons in .41 magnum! In further reading on them Colt did not make many and there were some concerns with the ones they did make.

It's just something I found interesting and thought some of you may as well.

    Enjoy!

Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

Wow, those are gorgeous... and I wasn’t surprised at the price... does that mean it’s a deal?

Those cylinders are, thin, very thin indeed. Probably should have made that a five shot.

Something I hadn't seen before. Very cool. But yes I agree those cylinder walls do look pretty thin for the 41 Magnum cartridge.

But I'm sure Colt will replace them if something goes wrong.

              $14,995.00?

              That's for the big-baller shot-callers

Don’t do it guys, if you are thinking about it. Been there done that. I was lucky enough to sell mine back, after 12 years, to the guy I originally bought it from, for 2k and a first year gold cup in the box. Notice on the pair of .41s it does not come with docs. If you want the complete sorry, I can PM you.

I wonder why if they are a pair ( 2 / 100 ) are the serial numbers so different. Any of the Colt experts want to share an opinion?

By no means am I an expert on Colts.

In addition to the seller's own words,

"Colt wont confirm if they made these"

"I've heard Colt tell people they never made a 41 mag"

"I don't know if any were made by Colt or a 100 like the collector that made the display box."

my main concern is why the seller did not spend a couple of hundred bucks on Colt factory historical letters documenting the rarity of these guns? These letters would confirm that these guns, with those serial #'s, left the Colt factory in the current condition presented by the seller.

The cost of those letters are very minimal compared to the value they could add to those guns.

Sorry, until I see the Colt factory historical letters, they're just another nice pair of custom guns made by an non Colt factory gunsmith IMHO.

He probably did...and the letters probably stated that these guns left the factory as 357s.

The big red flag for me is the widely varying serial numbers. I would tend to think someone had these made and that they were not factory .41s.

Interesting. Tagging for commentary from those far more knowledgeable than I!

I found this very detailed thread from 11 years ago. https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...d.php?t=197384

I think I will have another 57/58 or a 657 or a Black/Redhawk if I want to get another .41. By the way, it's one of the coolest calibers ever, but it is not $7500 per gun cool!
