    Shipping tips and recommendations needed

    Hi all,

Big shout out and appreciation to all on this wonderful site/forum. I've learned so much over the past few years just browsing so I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of you!

To keep it short and simple, I'm sending my USP9 into HK for a LEM trigger configuration. I've never shipped a pistol, let alone any firearm, and want to hear who I should go with (UPS vs. FedEx) and what I should expect as far as costs are concerned.

    Thank you!

I can say I’ve used UPS and Fedex and attempted use USPS. Have shipped many guns. Perhaps it’s just where I live but Fedex is 100x easier to deal with than the other companies. I don’t believe USPS will ship a handgun regardless.

UPS wanted to inspect everything and I had to make an appointment to go to a warehouse and ship and they were super nervous. FedEx is just like “meh, another gun. Whatever”
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

You will most likely have to ship from a hub.
UPS store and Fed Ex stores might not ship.it.
Pistol. They make you pay overnight. Rifles can go regular.
If they offer two or three day. Just pay it.

They may want to expect it first. UPS tore open my box for a rifle one time. UPS clerk was really nervous.
I had glued the box closed.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
      I'm Back.

sig made it easy by their pre-paid label using fedex as their carrier. take them to the hub --->get printed receipt --->done. that's the extent of my experience in shipping firearms.

Same. I shipped a rifle once to Sig, the hardest thing was finding a box that the factory case fit snug in. I ultimately had to make one.

I've shipped a few times. Sig sent me prepaid labels when I was sending a couple handguns in for work.

When I shipped to an FFL for a transfer, Fedex was best for me. Just went online, went through the detailed quote, paid with credit card, and dropped off at the local hub.
They didn't give me any trouble or ask what it was.

To compare costs, go to the UPS and Fedex websites and get a quote.
