I've been enjoying the world of gun videos on YouTube. Historical stuff, lots of ballistic tests, how to videos...all very educating. Today I was looking for things to learn about my recently bought M1 carbine. One video broke down a semi auto M1 and a select fire M2. There's actually only five or six parts that makes up the difference between the models and anyone could install the changes themselves, assuming the parts were available. I'm guessing the hardest part to find would be the operating slide which has a addition feature for the select fire mode. My own M1 was put together or modified by someone in its previous lives. It has the pot bellied stock with relief cut out on the left side of the wood. This model stock was the Type V, and was used on all M1 and M2 after it was introduced. The "pot belly was to add strength to the stock that was lost when the relief space was cut away for the select fire lever.

Realizing that my "progressive" press is pretty good and I'm all done with my 9mm and 5.56 backlog.
Trimming and swagging, something that people hate but has to be done for a faster future reloading session.Last edited by tabascoz28; 08-22-2020, 4:45 PM.Comment

I have a few projects that I've been putting off for quite some time. Now is my chance to do at least some of them.
1. Renovate album shelves in music room. Two thirds of my albums are in boxes to make it easier to work on the shelves.
2. Put together a large donation of clothes, shoes and various items for the thrift store.
3. Polish and restring several guitars. I bought new strings three months ago but keep putting it off.
4. Detail my old truck. I've had wax, chrome polish and that stuff to restore plastic parts for a long time but haven't made the effort yet.
5. Yard work and pulling weeds because of the rain we've been having.

Designate your SHTF weapons, clean and function check, load mags with the right HD ammo, get the sling or holster and spare mags, ear pro etc. so they're ready to go in seconds.
Change the batteries in you quick access safes.
Practice accessing your HD weapon(s). Practice your CQB plans at home with your unloaded weapon. Plan your retreat paths. Practice different scenarios starting from your usual locations, from the bed, the couch, the toilet, the weight machine, the garage etc.
Dry fire from defensive positions around the house. (It’s crazy, but use a broom or garden implements to practice in the backyard so you don’t spook your neighbors)
After all that is done repeatedly, clean your guns. Organize your ammo stash. Label them, stack them so your loved ones can find the ammo if needed without your help.
Label or organize your magazines clearly so you or family members don’t grab the wrong ones to use. Clean them and if you have to. Clean as if you are going to war or competition with them.

I'm remodelling two bathrooms and repainting nearly everything inside.
Home Depot and HD Supply are still open so I can pretty much get what I need.
Besides that there's always motorcycle rides, cleaning the pool, and I'm still working from home. The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.Comment

Reorganized my safe. Clean and lubed the guns I use most. Configuring my plate carrier and trying out different types of handgun chest holsters on my rig. Loading up mags and function testing my weapon lights. Browse calguns throughout the day. Watch youtube videos. Listen to my kids fight. Tell wife I need 1 more firearm. Tell her the ammo we havent isnt enough. Convince her I need more firearm accessoriesComment
