More than 6 transaction a year

I'm trying to unload more of my inventory since i'm thinking of going Active Duty.
So I made 5 transactions by late Feb this year, and I heard from the shop owner that our transaction limit is 5 total per year. I thought it was 5 handgun transaction and no limit long guns.
The Doj told me that the limit is 6 a year.

I seemed to have found somewhat of a solution, I'm going to transfer it to my spouse, and try and see if i can do an intrafamilial transfer to her for most of my stuff, and do another 6 transaction.
    That should work right?

My question is, does this transfer to my spouse count as one transaction of the 6 limit per year? So can I make another transaction, and transfer the rest to my spouse after my 6th one?

    - Go active duty
    - change home state to TN, FL, TX, or some other state income tax-FREE state
    - buy all the guns you can afford
    - ...???

The limit is 5. The 6th is the trigger that says you may be a dealer. I have never heard of anyone being called on too many transactions.

5 transactions and long guns are now included.

Multiple guns in one DROS is one transaction if that helps.

I emailed the DOJ and the lady that called me back told me it was 6.

And if you call again, expect a different answer.

If you want the wrong answer to a gun law question, call the CA DOJ. It works every time.

It is 5. And long guns are now included in the total.

Could she have said "less than 6"?

You can sell them to out-of-state buyers on Gunbroker, Armslist, etc. CADOJ can't do anything about that or limit your transactions.

User Audiophil2 has a storage facility in AZ, you might consider storage as an option.

                          i guess gunbroker isn't a bad idea.

I'm not sure of the purpose of a storage facility out of state, won't that be the same as a in state storage?

His facility is firearms specific. Not just a storage locker, he's an FFL with safes/security. If there is one in CA you know of that you can use, it would be the same. If you go active you can buy NFA firearms and store them in AZ (FYI).

Plenty of people have sold over 6 with no problems. Especially if you have good reason. They don't want that law challenged in court.

If you do it year after year is when you will get harassed.

I sold 8-10 pistols in a year some years back when I was raising money for a house. You know what happened? Absolutely nothing. Don't let the old men here scare you, they are afraid of their own shadows.
