    Soap box

We in the gun community always speak of the second amendment Our right to own guns, as we should. With gun ownership comes responsibility. Many laws outline those responsibilities. We should know safety rules. Where we can and cannot have or shoot a firearm. Guns are not toys. We enjoy them, At times we have fun with them. Guns in the wrong hands, thugs, bad people and inexperienced folks all can result in death or terrible injuries. If you are new to guns, please get trained, please secure your weapons from people that should not have them. Know your local laws so you don't lose your right to own. firearms. We carry and own guns to hunt and to feel safe hoping we will never need to use them in self defense but trained in case we do. One more thought. When a person gets arrested for anything. they are read their rights. The internet is different. If we get arrested or involved in a gun incident, rest assured, what we have said on the internet that can be used against us in a court of law, will be used. Don;t say anything on the internet that very well could come back and bite you.

So doesn't that mean say nothing because 'they're watching you'? Utter BS because that usurps the 1A by preventing discussing all the batcrap crazy anti-2A laws.

On January 15, Osiris Aristy opened up Facebook, posted a photo of a gun and wrote, "feel like katxhin a body right now." Later that night, he added, "Nigga run up on me, he gunna get blown down" and followed that with an emoji of a police officer and three gun emoji pointing at it. After an hour, he posted another similar message.

Three days later, Aristy, 17, was arrested by New York City police at his home in Brooklyn. According to a criminal complaint, the teen was charged with making a terroristic threat, along with charges of weapon and marijuana possession. His posts, the complaint argued, constituted a threat against police. They felt intimidated and harassed—emoji and all. o_O

So with that in mind, should all of the 'shooting' emojis on CG be removed immediately?

The good. I didn't post to get in an argument with you. If what I posted offends you, I'm sorry, take it with a grain of salt.

I'm not offended and I'm not arguing with you. I'm making the point that it's a slippery slope to loss of 1A if you start telling people to be careful about what to say.

Police making an arrest over stupid tweets and emojis? Wow, talk about 'triggered'. Doesn't that sorta say something about the existence of a police-state? Maybe they should have arrested Kapernick for wearing 'pig' socks.

It just make me sad to hear about so many people who have forgotten the basic freedoms US fought for an won are now being taken away by our own overgrown government. Lock up your firearms because they tell you to if you wish. I don't think there was anything in the 2A that said they needed to be locked away, either.

Depends on what you are posting.
If you post that you are gona go shoot up whatever whoever then you are Fuc$d AND Stupid AND should be used against you.
If you post that you are gona go to the range today and shoot your new (legal) whatever and it gets used against you then there is a problem.

I've seen lots of threatening statements made against conservatives, with no response by police. Lots of outright threats against other people online, no police response.

Statements made jokingly by a conservative or someone who owns firearms, and yep, call out the SWAT team.

We are living in a world where radical liberals control the media and law enforcement. LE is being weaponized, so now we are supposed to suppress any/all freedom of speech because of it? Just look at the forced closure of gun shops in SJ, WHY gun shops? Lots of other stores remain open yet are not being forced to shut down.
