As of Saturday, 3/14/2020, in response to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) situation, the City of San Leandro has directed the San Leandro Rifle and Pistol Range to implement measures to increase social distancing to minimize possibility of person-to-person coronavirus transmission.
To wit:
Every other firing lane is closed, bringing the number of available lanes indoors from 14 to 7; outdoor pistol from 12 to 6, and rifle from 6 to 3.
Classroom activities will be limited to 12 attendees (does not affect the general shooting public; only those attending classes held at the range.)
Any waiting (as for a shooting lane) will be done in a place other than the office lobby.
The entire facility will be closed if any of the following occur: a) a report of staff or customer having a likely or positive case of Covid-19 while on the range premises; b) the number of positive Covid-19 cases in San Leandro reaches 10; c) the number of positive cases in the County of Alameda reaches 100.
These changes are interim actions and may be tightened/loosened as conditions change.
Personal observations: Be prepared for long wait times for available shooting lanes: late Saturday afternoon had wait lists on all 3 ranges. Stay home if you are ill (why you'd need to go to a range to shoot if you're sick is beyond me.) Hope this all blows over sooner than later.
