    Remington 870 Express Tactical

I saw a Remington 870 Express with synthetic furniture and an 18-in barrel today at Sportsman's Warehouse. It was all black and had an extended mag. It was priced at $379.00. It was called an 870 Express Tactical.

This one said it was made in New York. I'm wondering if the internals are all the same as the standard 870 Express? Or is this similar to the police model. Anybody have any info on this?

It's an express. Not police internals. What make it a tactical is that it has an extended mag tube. On this particular tactical model it is not a 2 piece design.

Because it is a 1 piece mag tube the barrel does not interchange with other barrels. The barrel/ tube collar is further down the barrel. Great gun if you dont want to interchange barrels.

Hmmm. I have a Winchester 1300 Defender. I also have a Winchester SXP 18.5-in barrel. Wonder if I need to upgrade?

Lots of variants of the 870 express tactical, here's 5 of them at Turners.

I have a couple of Winchester duck guns no need to upgrade at all, thinking of building a defender here myself.

              Buy more ammo instead.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Winnies run just fine. They're aluminum framed and lighter. Wouldnt feel under gunned with any of the top three. Win, moss, or rem.

Well that defender sure feels nice in the hand. And that SXP has some of the smoothest action I've ever used. It is Turkish made, but it feels really nice and the other Turkish shotguns that I own have functioned without any issue at all. I think that Turkish shotgun builders have been doing this for a long time and are good at it.

I bought one four months ago. It’s mag fed. Contrary to some on calguns, the mag fed shotgun has not been discontinued. Also, the guns don’t rust.

For the price the gun is a good deal. Heavily built. Durable. The mag fed feeds even better than the tube fed because it’s simpler, identical to the feed in your pistols!!

I can leave this thing in my trunk. I’m not going to do that with a Athena or beretta. If I need it to defend myself when buying toilet paper it will work.
