Help: Buying Ammo with 2 caliber rifle setup

    Good day everyone,

Looking for advice. I purchased a CZ 455 in 22LR in 2013. Separately purchased the 17HMR barrel a few years ago. Had enough ammo for both calibers for a while, but now my 17HMR stockpile is drying up. I'm good for 22LR ammo.

My gun is not registered as I purchased it before the 2014/2016 laws were in effect.

What are the possible ways to pass Ammo Background Check to get more 17HMR?

    I see that I can:
    1. Buy a new gun in 17HMR (no need for another, this is my last resort)
    2. Register my CZ455 (need some clarity on which serial # to report, receiver matches the 22lr barrel, but my 17hmr barrel has a different #)

I see there is a CFARS that I can report a firearm to. Can I report my 17HMR barrel serial # to the DOJ? Any other suggestions on how to do this?

    Thanks for any help!

Just go buy ammo. It will either be a $1 or $19 fee

Caliber of firearm and caliber of ammo do not have to match.
At this time you can buy any caliber you want.

Tell them you need the $19 check.

Do the $19 check, and caliber to gun doesn't matter. I just picked up a Glock 35 and put some rifle ammo on the same DROS. You failed the $1 check because the system doesn't see you, the $19 dollar check will update your record with current address etc.

Right. Purchase of long guns before 2014 was not recorded in AFS.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

                Does it? (Honest question)

Does the $19 ammo check create an AFS entry or did you just throw $19 in the street?

Thanks for the information and thank you for the link to the other post, if I need to follow up I will but it seems pretty straightforward!

You throw the $19 to the overlords in Sacramento. They create the entry.
