    No shooting for 2 months

So, I had some pretty major surgery on Feb 26 and the surgeon says no lifting anything greater than 10 lbs and no shooting for at least 2 months. Bummer!

Since I'm off work due to the surgery I've been getting my shooting fix by binge watching 'Forgotten Weapons'. Ian is pretty good but I've heard a few errors as he talks. Still and all I'm getting smarter with each episode. There must be hundreds of them!

Couldn't have chosen a better time to not be going to shooting ranges. Best of luck with the recovery...

If you like Forgotten Weapons you definitely need to give C&Rsenal and their associated gunsmithing channel Anvil a look.

Sounds like an abdominal surgery. Been there, done that a couple times. If that kind of surgery, like a hernia, the two months doesn't get you 100% recovery. More like 75%. For 100% recovery, it's 12-18 months. And that "recovery" is more "as fully healed as you're going to get."

The "lifting" gauge is if you lift anything that involves a tightening of the abdominal core, it's too much. You can feel when your six-pack abs start to tighten so avoid that for at least the two months.

OP could take up some bench-rest shooting with a buddy. And make sure your buddy is OK carrying your stuff to the firing line. The doctor didn't say you can't shoot, just that you shouldn't stress yourself by lifting. A nice precision .22LR will satisfy your shooting urges, not bankrupt the piggy bank and stay inside of the doctor's orders. Check out the Ruger Precision Rimfire .22LR, for example.

I had abdominal surgery. Minor, but did have a 5 inch horizontal incision below my belly button. A year after that surgery I fell hard on my stomach snowboarding, it felt like the dang incision tore open.

Actually it was a prostate removal. The lifting restriction is to make sure the plumbing heals. The doc told me I have one chance to heal properly or piss in my pants for the rest of my life. I did sneak out to the garage last night and mount a scope to my MAS45 .22 rifle. It weighs less than 10 lbs but I could feel it inside when I shouldered it.

No shooting at the range for anyone in SC County for the next three weeks due to shelter-in-place order.

A .22, some sand bags in your garage... I mean someone would have to move the sand bags for you.
