Hey all, I'm wondering what everyone uses for a belt. I usually use a basic 511 piece but the buckle design leaves much to be desired. I can't get it tight enough to be a secure platform for OWB holsters. IWB it seems to be ok because of the extra built-in retention of an IWB system. But with an OWB setup it flexes too much and allows the holster to pivot inwards and blocks my draw. I will probably eventually adopt a drop-leg system but I'm also thinking that just wearing a good belt 90% of the time will be better in a "grab and go" situation.

Multi-purpose belt?

I use a stiff leather belt.
If you look into actual gun belts, most will be stiff for the exact reasons you mention.Randall Rausch

Go to the "Firearms Accessories" board and search the word "belt" for titles only...and then do the same thing in the "Concealed Carry Holsters Equipment & Accessories" board. You will get a TON of hits. Many of them very recent as this question comes up every couple of weeks.
My preference is for the Ares Gear Aegis Enhanced belt for EDC wear. It's extremely high quality and can support a heavy range load-out...so concealed carry is no problem. It's not cheap but it will last you 5-10 years."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

I usually use a leather belt, but when I do need a nylon belt, I have a Wilderness Tactical belt and the buckle does a good job. It also uses velcro to secure the strap and make sure it stays in place. If you wish to have a more precise adjustment, you might try a belt with one of the ratcheting locking systems.NRA Benefactor Life Member

Try Crossbreed, they make belts and holsters. I have one of their leather gunbelts. It looks good and works well as an everyday belt and holds a holster very well. I use it when I shoot Steel Challenge as well.I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Try Bullhidebelts.com.
Their belts are thick leather and easily support most carry firearms.
They have steel tape reinforced belts, though IMHO their regular belts are more than adequate to support a holster.
They have a Velcro buckled belt too if one needs infinite adjustment. They market that design to mechanics to prevent car scratching, but it is plenty stiff to support carry.Benefactor Life Member, National Rifle Association
