Need short scope recommendations

Well,

My plan is to mount a scope on my AR or AK. What I'm looking for is a short scope (about 6 inches or less in length). Preferably variable 2-9 (give or take).

Would like to pay around $200. So please no recommendations on ACOGs or higher end IOR Valdadas. I'm not going to the sand box so don't need something that good. But at the same time would like something that keeps zero and helps with these old eyes on the range.

Given the limitation of 6", you probably wanna look at pistol scopes.

Many recommends Burris but with variable zoom it gets expensive.
