    Electronic Ear Muffs

I need to get a set of electronic earmuffs for rifle and pistol shooting. For rifle, they need to be a design that is not in my way. I have some non-electronic big round ones and they do get in the way a bit. Recommendations? Hoping to spend no more than $125. I would be wearing ear plugs under the muffs, 'cause I protective of my hearing and take no chances.

I have Sordins. Expensive, but they have worked great for me.

I bought the ones Turners had on sale for like $25 and they work great.

Just picked up a pair of the Howard Leight ones and I like them. 55 bucks at the Cow Palace show. I wear earplugs underneath as well.

I've never done this. Mine has great noise reduction. Might be a good practice should your batteries fail.

Howard Leight Sport Impact Earmuffs. These earmuffs are about $60 to your door, have 22dB NRR, and are very low profile. At the range I also use foam earplugs underneath, but not for hunting.

I started out with the Peltor Tac 6 electronics and while they were compact and comfy, the left speaker broke within a few months.

I bought the Howard Leight Sport Impacts 2 weeks ago and like them better already. they seem to be more solid in construction and are even more comfortable. They were actually cheaper than my Peltors were as well.

Hope this isn't too much of a hijack, but I think it's relevant to your question. Do you guys shoot your AR's with CQB optics with any of these muffs? All of the ones I've tried (only 4 pairs, but still...) hit the buttstock when I go to look through my EOTech and that "CONK!" sound is really annoying. Basically it just feels clumsy, so I only wear earplugs (good ones.) Do these "low profile" muffs work better in that respect?

+1. Just upgraded to Sordins from Peltors -- MUCH better.

Yeah, I had the exact same complaint about Peltors. The Howard Leight's are very low profile and work quite well. I can bonk the muffs against the stock, but normally don't.
