    Which foam?

Just bought an Impact gun case with no foam.

    What's the good stuff?

    Whats the good density rate?

Can I get some foam recommendation?

Take a look at Foam Mart

Case Club also sells raw foam.

Those cases never seem to use cutouts, and just blank foam. Any of the above should work. If you are looking for cutouts, MyCaseBuilder for the win:

Closed cell foam is what you want.

For custom, I Can't recommend mycasebuilder.com highly enough. Not cheap but you get what you paid for.

              Closed cell > Open cell.

Open cell can hold more moisture. It's generally not a good idea to store a gun in foam long term. Short term transit is fine. But take it out as soon as you can. And if/when you buy a rifle case, consider outfitting the inside with a soft case instead of foam. It will cost about the same...or less. And it's nice to be able to leave the heavy hard case in your hotel, etc., when you get to your destination.

In a hard case, use open cell. For soft cases use closed cell

If you put closed cell foam in that hard case, you are going to play hell getting it to close and if you do get it closed, the outward force will likely compromise the case's waterproof seal around the edge of the case.

Now, if you are only planning on using that case for a specific gun, then you could use closed cell cut out for the shape of that gun. You could also potentially have several different cut outs for different guns.
