    Is this decent ammunition?

New shooter here and have a question about a particular ammunition I picked up earlier this week when I was there to pickup my new firearm (Beretta 92FS)

I was using the ammunition pictured below.Noticed that the spent brass casings were sooty and black, while the casings on the ground and from others' firearms at the range didn't look that way, and were shiny/clean. Also noticed that my hands were absolutely filthy after just loading a magazine with this ammunition.

Did I just get what I paid for buying "cheap" ammunition, or is this normal and expected? I am bringing some other ammunition to the range with me this morning to compare. The other ammunition I have (Winchester 9mm NATO, Aguila 9mm) isn't filthy like the CCI is and doesn't get the hands dirty when loading the magazines.

I'm not complaining or whining about getting my hands dirty at all, but it literally looks like I was working on my car after loading two mags with the CCI.

I shoot cheaper crap through all my guns. Not gonna hurt anything. Get whatever you can to shoot alot. If you can afford to shoot more expensive ammo alot, do it. If you need to go cheap so you can practice alot, that is much better than not shooting as much.

i also use this brand a lot due to low price. winchester, remington, federal/american eagle, lawman, ppu, indpendence, whichever is on sale or the cheapest at the time of purchase.

What is the possibility that the OP fell victim to someone who removed the CCI Factory cartridges from
the carton and replaced them with some 3rd world garage ammunition?

Start with a clean gun. Shoot 40 rounds of the suspected ammo. Then clean the gun as you normally
would and save all the patches.

Then do the same thing with a 40 rounds of PPU or 40 rounds of Federal ammunition. Again, clean the gun
and keep the patches separate from the two sets.

Can you name one ammo distributor that accepts returns on ammo ?

You mean other than the headstamps that say "CCI Blazer"?

Op, did you get your Beretta running reliably yet?

I haven't used this ammo. But I've shot many thousands of rounds of Federal, WWB, and Remington, and Sellier and Belliot? All cheap stuff. My Berettas eat all of them fine. CCI should be on par with these.
