Sending a rifle from out of state to Ca, what do I need to do?

I’m selling a Ar15 and someone from ca wants to buy it. What do I need to do to it in order for me to ship it? I used to install a cheap bullet button and ship it, is that still ok to do ?

    Thanks in advance.

Must be featureless or fixed mag. Render ca legal or send to audiophile in Az to make ca compliant. or send lower to ffl and upper to buyer.. Drill and rivet the stock on lower just to be safe. 10 cent rivet.

It's really easy to make an AR featureless, focus on the 3 problematic areas: grip, muzzle, stock.

Grip: just detach it and send the parts in a ziploc
Muzzle: Flash hider is bad, muzzle brake / comp or thread protector is good.
Stock: if it is collapsible, just buy an Aim or Strike stock lock kit for $5-10 or include an MOE fixed stock.

OP you really should discuss this with the buyers FFL which you will be shipping the rifle to. They certainly will require certain info from you and if you are an FFL there is I believe a CA verification you have to obtain.

Further, the old bullet buttons are worthless. If you do fix the 10 round magazine properly with the new devices you dont have to pin the stock as a previous poster suggested. I presume you understand it would be illegal to ship the firearm directly to your buyer unless they have an FFL, in which case they should be advising you.

Just take the gun apart. Send lower to ffl and upper to buyer.
