Just in, AB3071 say goodbye to lead ammo at shooting ranges.

    Well folks,

It is finally happened, AB3071, a ban on all lead containing ammo at all in-door and outdoor ranges. This is no bull****, one of Calguns legal eagles just posted in the Bills section. The last nail has just been hammered into the shooting sports. Wow a box of no-lead .223 $35 a box. Think of how much blasting you can do! I have a ****ing headache!A2

Yep, the end baby no joke, no bull****. Beauman just posted it. We will all just have a bunch of boat anchors sitting in our gun safes. A2

So how is this going to affect the bullet traps at indoor ranges? Don't many ranges have a "no magnetic" policy to protect the traps from damage?

I.e, if we can't use lead, won't the alternatives damage the traps?

I don't think even in our current climate, this will be passed. Then of course, California gun owners have a history of doing very little in opposition of these bills so I guess anything is possible. Even the assumption of it already on its way to becoming law implied in this thread is bizarre.

Regardless, the science doesn't pass muster.

Insoluble lead in a controlled environment, in a focused surface area easy to clean up if necessary. There is no threat to anyone or anything including condors and "ground water", other than paper targets.

A 4 year old kid - or condor - can swallow a fishing sinker or bullet and it will pass right through his system without so much as any level of worry.

Chit happens, and it will continue to happen. What is the effective date if it passes?

True; but I think this one is so egregiously irrational and overzealous that if can be killed in Appropriations with some rational argument as to it not being logical nor feasible.

Shooter/instructor says it's bad for them cause they are always breathing it in at the indoor ranges.
