Prefer new. But I buy used too. Depends on price, condition, and purpose.

Both. If it's a gun I really want that might be difficult to find but I see it in a store for a fair price, then new. However most of my collection consists of used guns that look pretty much brand new. Looking at my guns nobody would ever know that they were purchased "used".

Guns aren't like cars. They maintain value really well, and don't easily show signs of wear like cars do (in most circumstances)

We buy them out of car trunks and at gun shows using loop holes! Nice try Gavin!

I would prefer new, but the roster kept getting in the way.

Real answer is I buy used most of the time, most people don't shoot much and guns are pretty durable and long lasting. I would rather not take the immediate soaking on tax and new premium. I bide my time and when something I want in a condition that's acceptable to me pops up, I snag it. Of course there are several pieces that I want, so I'm looking all the time! Honestly it is enjoyable checking the classifieds. Just don't let the wife catch me looking!

brand new for modern or current manufactured guns

used is OK for military surplus (no bubba'd firearms)

I buy both depending on prices. If a lightly used gun is only slightly cheaper than a new one i like to give business to my local ffl and buy new . There are alot of people that never reach the 500 rd mark on their guns and if you can get a good price break used is the way to go.

A lot of my accumulation is WW2 and older, so many used weapons in it.

My first was a wedding gift from my FIL, used, but in great shape. Since then I've only bought new except for one, but it was unfired when I bought it. Nothing against used, I would definitely buy used if I found a good deal, especially if I found something off roster or out of production that I wanted.

Used because they generally don't get shot enough -- until I get them.
