    Glock Warranty

    Good Evening,
I have a gen 3 Glock pistol that I bought used. It's developing a hairline crack on the frame. I haven't really shot it much so I'm not sure if it was already slightly cracked when I bought it. I've heard great things about Glock's warranty but I've also heard it the other way around, but I've never had any first hand experience. Since I bought the gun used will Glock still replace the frame free or will there be a charge, or will they not replace it at all? If they do replace it will they reuse the same serial number to then be able to return it directly to me?

Depends. Sometimes they will charge you and sometimes they will do it free under warranty. If they have to replace the frame, it will have a different serial number. Is the frame starting to crack around the metal inserts?

        Depends.

It might be covered under warranty, but only Glock can tell you by examining the frame.

If the frame needs to be replaced, the serial number will be different, and must be send to an FFL, and DROS to you.

Yeap, it's cracking around the metal inserts. I was wondering about the serial # because I don't believe California allows the DROSing of just a frame, do they? Also, it would count against my 1 in 30 and some FFLs charge $130 to transfer plus the $37 DROS fees

Send Glock the whole gun. They will send back a whole gun. It may or may not consist of your original slide assembly. You will DROS it. You will pay a transfer fee and DROS fee. It will count against 1 in 30.

Yes, it would count as your 1 in 30. If you know that an FFL that charges $130 to accept a transfer, find another place. There's got to be somewhere cheaper.

Does your Glock have an E##### serial number?

Glock had an issue with a small number of frames with rear rails breaking off the frame, or cracks appearing near the rails.

Glocks with late "D" series, thru early "F" series number fall within the "recall".

Replacement of the frame would be covered under warranty. The replacement frame supposedly should have the same serial number with a -1 suffix.

Still need to be sent to an FFL and DROS to you though.

Search for "Glock E-frame replacement" for more info.

My LE Duty gun had that issue and was replaced free, and they paid shipping both ways. Different serial number , same slide just new frame. Best to call Glock CS.

I tried calling but their hours are when I'm at work unfortunately. Does anyone have an email address for Glock cs?
