    Custom Glock Malfunction On-Duty

Fort Lupton, Colorado — Newly released body camera footage shows Officer Zachary Helbig shooting a man after he was called on a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of 14th Street in Fort Lupton. The Fort Lupton police officer who was charged for the fatal shooting of Shawn Joseph Billinger, 46, has been found not guilty. The jury delivered the verdict Friday evening in Greeley. According to the indictment, Billinger started walking quickly toward Helbig as he was yelling “kill me”. But Billinger had nothing in his hands at the time. Billinger was shot once in the chest by Helbig. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I didn't see anything in his hands. I dont really have a problem with him shooting the guy, I just think he's kinda soft for doing it. Lots of cops afraid to go "hands on", fighting skills should be just as important as shooting skills for cops.

I guess this one knew he hits where he aims at! Not hard at 10 to 12 feet.

What ever happend to Glocks perfection, never fail, super reliable, etc??

Not good if the perp was shooting back.

There would be a whole lot more idiots alive and walking around if people taught their kids not to point a gun at the cops, aka "po po", nor to attack one in any way.

lol if you're so fired up on going hand to hand against an adversary who may or not be armed, have a go at it. You do know it's possible to be knocked out cold or killed by a single punch, right? The cop really has no way to know how a fist fight is gonna end up. I didn't watch the whole vid so I'm not sure if I approve or not, but the cop did a simple risk/reward calculation. RIP dead guy.

            Good shoot.

I'm shocked Officer Helbig was even up on charges.

You NEVER want to engage hand to hand or allow an aggressive adversary to get that close (Tueller). He can get ahold of your gun and use it on you, or pull his own gun or knife at the last second, or kill you with a single punch.

The same thing that happens to pretty much any piece of gear when you start screwing with it and changing parts etc. Why any LEO would trust his life to some goofy slide (and who knows what else) rather than a stock pistol with good sights defies logic to me.

And yeah I'm not going hand to hand with someone that might be able to kill me. Maybe a taser as a first choice, I don't know... but I see no fault on the part of the officer in this case. I'm sorry the cop had to deal with this.

When cops used to carry billy clubs and were not afraid to use them, there was a lot less people challenging them.

Why are we willing to pay sweet compensation and pension packages for people who are willing to risk less than your liquor store security guard again?

For Glocks, reliability goes down once you start replacing factory parts with aftermarket parts.

Well, I am mostly a Glock shooter and have faith in Glock's reliability...

However, it did FAIL me once!!! A stock, except for sights and grip tape, Glock 34 Gen 3... In a Glock training course!!!

                              As mentioned in my AAR:

I usually bring backup guns, but I figured since it was a Glock course and I was using a stock Glock - I shouldn't have any problem. Right?

Unfortunately, the trigger failed. The range lent me one of their frames until the instructor could check it out during lunch. He replaced the connector. It worked well until the afternoon - then it started having problems again.

I got home, and without having the luxury of troubleshooting. I just replaced the internals with spare OEM parts. The next day of the class, the instructed said he reached out to their head armorer in HG - and they tell me that the problem could be the trigger housing. In particular the slot for the connector. There are cases that if it gets loose - the connector drifts out, hence, dragging the trigger bar...

Good to know! But, yeah, Glocks are NOT perfect...
