    This will make stainless rust??

How many have tried the above product for removing oil , grease and contaminents from 1911's (metal) ? ...Seems to be the same as : "Gun Scrubber" at a much lower price point . As long as it is the non - chlorinated version of brake cleaner - how bad could it be ? One just has to remember it...

"...but make sure to oil it [stainless steel] using a rag that has never wiped down a carbon steel gun or it will rust like crazy."

    Huh?

If you transfer rust onto stainless.... the iron oxide will keep oxidizing aka rusting

    It’s stain-less

Spyderco has an H2 steel that is somehow purged with nitrogen and is almost rustfree

Is to tease the safe queen 1911 gun owners

      It’s a tool

      Use it
      Clean it
      Oil it.

I would not leave the surface 100% oil free.

Far beyond "Huh?" All the way to ROFLMAO. Obviously a gross exaggeration.

Any ferrous metal can rust. Some grades of stainless are more susceptible than others.

True. I wiped my K98 with a rag, and then set it down next to my brass frame Henry. The brass rusted out completely overnight.

            ^^^^ what pacrat said.

If you want to use break cleaner on a gun, any gun stainless or not, use Un-Chlorinated ones. It is marked on the can.
Chlorine is very harsh on metals of all kinds. Stainless is carbon steel plus Chromium, Nickel, and other metals. Stainless steel will rust, just not as easily.

All guns need to be wiped and oiled after exposure to any cleaning solution.

I've used the same oily rag to wipe down all of my guns (blued and stainless) for decades. All are rust-free.

I live by the beach. Had a Defiance bolt handle rust (surface) just by oils from my hands alone, even with a golden rod. I lightly coat all my firearms now, and don't have rust issues.

Not all "stainless" is the same. Many (400 series) are actually chromium steel, and while more resistant to oxidation than steel, will rust under the right conditions.

300 series are nickel steel, and are much more resistant than 400 series. These are often referred to as "marine grade stainless".

Actually, "stainless steels" are not stainless at all. They oxidize faster than other ferrous metals. The difference is that the oxidation is chromium oxide-not iron oxide. And it is a very thin, translucent layer so you don't see it. Hence the name.

Interestingly enough, aluminum bears the same sort of outer oxidation. Yet add mercury to a scratch through that outer oxide, and it 'crystalizes' in the weirdest of ways ( more accurately, forms an amalgam.)
