Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded 9

Recently changed out the magwell on my Springfield TRP. It originally has a two piece design and decided to go with one piece Smith and Alexander. Will try to track down pics of it. No experience with the Wilson Combat ones that fit on the grip screw bushings."1911 mag, twinkie, twinkie, cupcake, primary weapon mag"

I used a Fusion 2 piece mainspring housing + magwell on my 1911 Loaded. I JB welded the two pieces together, so now it's a really solid one piece. Fitting was required before I epoxied them together. I like the aggressive checkering of the Fusion mainspring housing much better than the slick straight lines of the factory MSH.Comment

Smith and Alexander is good to go. It’s a one piece design. Upgrading to this setup you would need to change out the ILS out to the standard mainspring internal components. Recommend trying out a 19lb mainspring if you do.
I’m sure others have there own preferences as wellComment

I think this depends on how agressive you want to go something more subtle like the trp variants or more like ipsc race gun style. Smith and alesander are good, ed brown makes nice ones. I have both and cant tell the differance in quality. Only differance is one is lpi and the other is snake skin texture. Both high quality pcs. Like someone said before me what are you using it for

Ipsc L10

Easier reloads at the range or running basic drills like 1 shot reload 1 shot
Or just plain tacticool looks
Whats your purpose ? Answer that and you will have your answer

Close up of the S&A magwell on my TRP with the CBoB for comparison.

Techwell makes a nice one that is held in place by the grips. Nice cause you can change the well without needing to remove the MSH, and Techwell makes several styles.Comment

Why did you end up changing out the mag well on your TRP? I also just got a TRP and noticed while at the range yesterday that the little allen bolt continues to back out on its own.. Did you also have this issue?Comment

No issues with the bolt backing out however I did have issues with the magwell rotating/canting. Didn't affect function of loading the TRP just didn't look right being crooked after thinking it is tightened
Easy swap just needed to buy additional parts since the ILS has different parts than a standard MSH."1911 mag, twinkie, twinkie, cupcake, primary weapon mag"
